If you’re looking for something fun to do in the Poconos, this is the list for you! Even if you’ve only got a few hours to spare, or are looking for something more low-key than a day of skiing or hitting an indoor water park, there’s plenty of opportunities to have fun and make memories in the Poconos.

Big Screen Escapes

Big Screen Escapes is a retro-themed escape room company with locations in Mt. Pocono and Tannersville. They have several different escape room options, but a favorite is “Trapped in ‘88.” In this room, players have been trapped in the ‘80s and must navigate life as a teenager in that time period in order to escape. It’s lots of fun for everyone (even if you don’t get the 80s references!).

Big Screen Escapes is a great choice for a family or group of friends challenge themselves, solve some puzzles, and laugh a lot! Their escape rooms are also a popular choice for bachelor/bachelorette parties or corporate team building experiences.

Splinters Hatchet and Axe Throwing

If you haven’t tried axe throwing yet, Splinter’s Hatchet and Axe Throwing in Swiftwater is a perfect place to start. Splinters has a 13 throwing lanes and even a private room for up to 30 people (with 3 throwing lanes) if you’re looking to host a bigger get together. The staff and atmosphere are all very warm and welcoming, so if you’re worried axe throwing sounds a little intimidating, there’s no need.

You’re also allowed to bring your own food, drinks, and alcoholic beverages (just no hard liquor) to brighten up the party even more. Kids 8+ are allowed in the venue, but must be 12+ to actually throw.

S&S Speedway Indoor Go Karting

S&S Speedway, located in Stroudsburg, has been a Poconos standard for more than 25 years. They offer side-by-side racing, allowing for some friendly competition between family and friends! The whole family is welcome, but participants must be at least 54” tall to drive.

If the whole group doesn’t want to take a turn around the speedway, there’s still plenty of opportunity for fun! People can hang out in the lobby, which has a viewing area of the whole track. There’s also a game room, pool table, and food and drinks available!


Penn’s Peak Entertainment Venue

Penn’s Peak is a beautiful entertainment destination located in the quaint Poconos town of Jim Thorpe. They host concerts from all kinds of musical talent—from country and classic rock to pop and the blues. The venue also offers luxury suites, a gift shop, and a fun on-site restaurant and bar called Roadies.

Penn’s Peak is located in a gorgeous mountain setting with spectacular views—especially important if you’re travelling to the venue for one of their summertime Deck Parties.

 If you haven’t hopped on the pickleball bandwagon yet, it’s about time you gave it a try. A combination of tennis, badminton, and ping pong, pickleball is a ton of fun for players of all ages and experience levels. If you’ve never played before, sign up for one of Dropshots’ “Cucumber Classes” to learn the basics of the game!

Dropshots Pickleball, which is located in White Mill,s PA, offers membership packages, but memberships aren’t required to play—anyone can drop in for a game whether they’re a member or not. They’re also a great place for parties and private events!
